Fire ants can have a fiery sting
Ants are America’s number one pest problem and fire ants are a special breed. These aggressive stingers can have colonies of up to 250,000 workers ready to strike you, your family and your pets.
Fire ants are reddish, quarter-inch long ants with a nasty sting they’ll use on just about any animal (or human) that crosses their paths. They nest in unsightly mounds of one to two feet in diameter and about six inches high, often near moist areas. They can ruin your landscaping, cause problems with the electrical components in your air conditioning unit and trigger allergic reactions in some people and pets.

Dupont Advion Fire Ant Bait
Active Ingredient: Indoxacarb
Two applications of Dupont Advion Fire Ant Bail per year are usually all you need to be done with fire ants. This treatment is specially formulated for these tough pests, yet safe for humans and pets.
Benefits:
- Less costly than other methods of
treatment - 100% control within 5 days
- Safe for humans & pets
Disadvantages:
- Only effective on fire ants
- Can only be applied during select weather
conditions (ants must be foraging at time of
application; this only occurs when the soil
temperature is between 70° and 95°.) - No residual, so ants could come back,
depending on the surrounding fire ant
pressure; a heavy rainstorm could facilitate
quick fire ant return - Typically, 2 treatments per year works best
Bayer TopChoice
Active Ingredient: Fipronil
Just one application of TopChoice per year and you can say goodbye to fire ants, fleas, ticks and mole crickets. This effective treatment is safe for animals and humans and will not kill beneficial yard organisms.

with aeration and produces a healthier lawn. - Takes 4-6 weeks to achieve 90% control.
Traditional Liquid Pesticide
