Four Tips to Stay Pest-Free This Fall
During Autumn and Winter, you should be on the lookout for occasional invaders. These are pests that invade your home or business because outside weather conditions have become hostile to their environment. This includes rodents, cockroaches, ants, fleas, wasps, spiders, termites, silverfish, stink bugs, and more. So how do you prevent them? Here are four tips from us.
- Eliminate Moisture: Occasional invader control should begin with the elimination of moist harborage sites around the perimeter of the home or building, such as: leaf piles, mulch, overgrown vegetation, and ineffective drainage areas. On the inside, consider installing a dehumidifier, using a fan after showers, and optimizing air circulation using doors and windows.
- Block Entrance Points: Seal possible points of entry into the home or building with a good quality silicone caulk, paying special attention to cracks in the foundation, utility pipes, and wood fascia. Damaged screens on doors and windows should also be repaired. Keep in mind, rats can squeeze through openings the size of a quarter and mice through the size of a dime.
- Remove Food Sources: Ensure that trash is properly disposed of, dishes are cleaned off and not left sitting, food is thoroughly contained, and that you clean frequently. Do not forget to address the areas behind appliances, stove drip pans, sink drains, and garbage disposals.
- Utilize Experts: Call us! Prevention and action are key. Even if you take all of the steps above, there are still things only an expert can spot and treat. Our skilled professionals are prepared with the know-how to keep your home or business pest-free far beyond the Fall.
